The SEATBELT CHECKPOINT in Walter Hill Area at Bridge on Thursday

WGNS received several phone calls asking why there was more traffic than usual at the bridge over the Walter Hill Dam on Thursday afternoon. The reason... A safety belt checkpoint.

To emphasize the importance of wearing seat belts, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office conducted a seat belt safety check point from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday afternoon, July 26 at the Walter Hill Bridge on 231 North (Lebanon Highway).

According to a previous press release, drivers were only asked to slow down and not stop unless police officers spotted a visual violation. In the case of a violation, drivers were flagged to pull over.
