The Swap'n Shop Barber Has A New Life After Heart Attack

Most people in Rutherford County have run into Charlie Pitts or heard him on the radio. He's the popular local-barber who wrote and sings the SWAP'N SHOP SONG. Charlie suffered a serious heart attack awhile back, and the great news is--he's back, feeling great, and more positive than ever!

Charlie wants to help others avoid suffering a heart attack. In describing how he was feeling, and he said, "It felt like I had really bad indigestion, sort of like swallowing a chicken wing with the bone still in it."

What happened next . . .

The heart attack, along with other incidents that happened, have changed Charlie's life . . .

Helping others is nothing new for Charlie. In the late 1980's, Charlie dreamed-up having a cut-a-thon to raise money for a young Reeves-Rogers Elementary student who needed a liver transplant. With tears flowing, Charlie recalled how WGNS broadcast live as several barbers got together for this special fund raising event. event.

If you've ever been to Charlie Pitts' hair styling shop, you've not only had a great haircut, but you have been entertained. Charlie is a mix of a stand-up comedian, a Music City type guitar picker, and a great barber--he's a showman.

It's hard to describe the "Charlie Pitts' experience", but when Charlie was on WGNS helping the community know what to look for if you're having a heart attack, his close friend Larry Ralston called. Charlie fell into one of his routines . . .

Charlie grew-up in Murfreesboro, and knew what he wanted to by the time he was in elementary school.
