The VITA program is in full swing filing taxes for residents for free

The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties is once again conducting a free tax preparation service. Brittney Montgomery is the Community Impact Manager for the United Way.

In 2015, volunteers with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program filed nearly 730 tax returns resulting in over $1 million returned into Rutherford and Cannon counties.

To schedule an appointment to have your taxes prepared for free, call (615) 971-8678.

To be eligible to have your taxes filed for free, you must have a household income of $62,000 or less annually.

VITA locations:

Patterson Park Community Center

  • Saturdays- 9:00 am- 1:00 pm
    • Tuesdays- 2:00- 6:00 pm
    • Thursdays- 2:00- 6:00 pm
    • Fridays- 2:00- 6:00 pm

Smyrna Assembly Hall

  • Tuesdays- 9:00 am- 1:00 pm
    • Wednesdays- 2:00- 6:00 pm
    • Thursdays- 9:00 am- 1:00 pm

VITA sites will be closed March 25th and 26th for Good Friday and Easter.
