Thornton's Clerk Verbally Assaulted; Suspect Arrested for Public Intoxication

A 26-year old man from Colorado was arrested by Murfreesboro Police after allegedly verbally assaulting clerks at the Thornton's on Old Fort Parkway.

Thomas Ober was charged with public intoxication and criminal trespassing after the Sunday incident. Ober was said to be very intoxicated when he demanded alcohol and cigarettes from the clerks, even accusing one of being racist against white people. Also, Ober was reportedly asked to leave on several occasions and did not leave.

He finally left, just as police were arriving. They watched video of the incident, which backed up their story. Ober was found a the nearby Crestwood Suites on Old Fort Parkway and arrested. A warrants check also revealed more than 20 active warrants out of Colorado.

Ober is set to answer to the local charges on June 7th in court.
