Tracy/DesJarlais Race Very Tight

  Email   Print

The race between Fourth District Congressman Scott DesJarlais and challenger Jim Tracy is as close as a race can be. With all of the precincts reporting, the unofficial tally reported to the state from the district show DesJarlais 35 votes ahead of Tracy. That's right, 35 votes. 34,787 for DesJarlais and 34,752 for Tracy. Just after 10:30pm, from his headquarters at Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, Tracy declared victory...

Tracy thanked his many supporters and those who helped him during his campaign, which started in 2012 just two months after DesJarlais defeated Lincoln Davis...

Tracy, a local state senator, made the speech while leading with just a few precincts in the district out. But late numbers from Grundy County, near DesJarlais' home in South Pittsburg, gave the incumbent the 35 vote lead. Tennessee doesn't have an automatic recount law, but a candidate can request the state recount votes. WGNS will continue to follow the story and you can check out to hear Tracy's full speech from Embassy Suites.
