A routine traffic stop on Middle Tennessee Boulevard turned up a stolen weapon and drugs. Murfreesboro Police made the stop just before 8 Tuesday night at the intersection of Middle Tennessee and Ewing Boulevard. The vehicle was pulled over because the officer reported the front passenger wasn't wearing a seat belt and for a registration violation because the temporary tag wasn't displayed properly. Police reports show the officer asked the passenger, 23-year old Davon Darion Cason of Mobile, Alabama, to exit the vehicle after observing tobacco products commonly used for smoking marijuana. After smelling the drug on him, Cason admitted to the officer he smoked the drug. The driver of the vehicle gave the officer permission to search the vehicle. That search turned up a loaded 357-magnum handgun along with marijuana. It was found under the passenger seat. Cason is a convicted felon from Alabama, due to several previous possession of a weapon charges. A routine N-C-I-C check of the weapon revealed it was stole out of Daphne, Alabama. Cason was placed under arrest for felony possession of a weapon, theft under five-hundred dollars and simple possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and place under a 10-thousand dollar bond. Cason is scheduled to appear in Rutherford County General Sessions Court on July 11th.
