Turkey Tee Off for Child Advocacy Center Went Fantastic

Ninety-six golfers enjoyed a chilly autumn morning at the third annual “Turkey Tee Off” golf tournament on Saturday at Cedar Crest golf course.   
 
Over $12,000 was raised to support services to child abuse victims at the Child Advocacy Centers serving Rutherford and Cannon Counties. 
  
Child abuse affects a significant number of children in our community.  In the last 13 years, the Child Protective Investigative Team, which consists of the Child Advocacy Center, Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office, have worked together to investigate and prosecute over 9,000 child abuse cases and assisted 12,500 people in Rutherford and Cannon Counties. 
  
A delicious “Turkey Gobbler Luncheon” was provided by Jerry Robinson and Slick Pig.  In-kind contributors for the breakfast and lunch included Donut Country, Lewis Brothers Bakery, Little Debbie Snack Cakes, and Real Tree beverages.  
  
The top four teams were awarded $1,000 of prize winnings. Golf tournament hosts Phillip and Steven Smith and Smith’s Painting announced the prizes winners.  
  
The first place team winning $400 was the Sommardahl Team.  The golfers on the first place team were George Bellows, Sam Freeland, Van White, and Don Sommardahl.  
  
The second place team winning $300 was the Cedar Crest Team.  The golfers on the second place team were Chuy Ramirez, Antonio Marin, Ben Ramirez, and Rick Cardenas.  
  
The third place team winning $200 was Bugg Construction.  The golfers on the third place team were Brad Bugg, Jeff Troutman, Mikey Smith, and Chuck Toone. 
  
The fourth place team winning $100 was the Fletcher Team.  The golfers on the fourth place team were Don Crabtree, Tommy Bennett, Mickey Hopskins, and Don Fletcher.
 
The following prize winners won Callaway hex chrome golf balls:
 
·       “Closest to the Pin” on Hole 3 was Tony Demers
·       “Longest Drive” on Hole 5 was Brandon Webb
·       “Closest to the Pin” on Hole 7 was Joe Chicton
·       “Closest to the Water” on Hole 9 was Joe Chicton
·       “Closest to the Pin” on Hole 14 was Don Fletcher
·       “Closest to the Pin” on Hole 17 was Jimmy Mosier
 
Jimmy Mosier was 18 inches away from winning the $10,000 Hole in One on Hole 17. 
  
The winner of the 50-50 tickets prize money drawing was Don Sommardahl, winning $250.  Mike Becker was the runner-up in the 50-50 tickets drawing, winning a $100 gift card and gift basket full of sauces from Toot’s. 
  
Walter White surprised everyone dressed as Santa Claus. Sylvia Smith was dressed as a Pilgrim, Jessica Wauchek and Amanda Pruitt were dressed as Indians, and the man in the Turkey costume still remains a mystery.
