At Cannonsburgh Village, Murfreesboro, Tennessee on Friday, July 13th, Uncle Dave Macon Days: A Roots Rendezvous officially begins Friday, July 13th and continues through Saturday evening, July 14th with the best in entertainment and National Competitions in Old Time Music and Dance. Uncle Dave Macon Days is consistently rated as one of the best musical festivals in the Southeast honoring traditional American "roots" music and the career of the first superstar of the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Famer, Grammy Nominee, Uncle Dave Macon.
Other family-friendly events taking place throughout the festival include: heritage activities for children, mouth-watering local concessions, a juried arts and crafts show in Matilda Macon's Artisan Village, Dave Macon's Marketplace, and a historic photo exhibit. With over 20,000 in attendance, roots music enthusiasts, looking for an authentic old-time experience will stroll through a reconstructed pioneer village with a cold lemonade in hand while listening to the warm harmonies on the porches and pickin' under the trees near the banks of Town Creek in Cannonsburgh. Murfreesboro is 30 minutes southeast of Nashville on Interstate 24. The village is home to more than 20 restored log structures and will feature living history demonstrations during the weekend.
