The annual Uncle Dave Macon Days Music and Arts Festival will take place in Murfreesboro on Friday and Saturday (July 7th and 8th). This year marks the 40th anniversary for the annual event.

Long time organizer Gloria Christy told WGNS...

Uncle Dave Macon Days began as an afternoon banjo pickin' contest in front of the Rutherford County courthouse. It was started by the late pharmacist Jesse Messick and David "Ramsey" Macon, a grandson of Uncle Dave.

Dancin' Dan the Banjo Man and his wife Frankie Henley traveled from Mississippi for Uncle Dave Macon Days. Frankie told us that the event is all about music and you will find people pickin' banjo under shade trees and by the stream at Cannonsburgh Village...

Dan and Frankie Henley are Ambassadors at the event and will help to keep the music going throughout the night...

Other musicians like national award winning banjo picker Thomas Maupin will also be at the event in Cannonsburg Friday and Saturday...
