United Way has huge impact on Rutherford and Cannon Counties

The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties partnered with MTSU Athletics and the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning to present Business Before Hours at MTSU's Jeff Hendrix Stadium Club. Attendee's learned about both United Way and Middle Tennessee State University's impact on the community.

Andy Womack, United Way board member, emphasized United Way's impact saying, "In 2013, United Way's 2-1-1 information and referral line took 5,411 calls from Rutherford and Cannon counties. The FamilyWize prescription discount program has saved Rutherford and Cannon county residents more than 1.3 million dollars since the service was brought to our community. United Way's most recent quarterly volunteer events (Stuff the Bus, Hometown Huddle, Days of Action and the Community Baby Shower) saw 1,039 volunteers put in 3,445 hours to impact our community."
