UPDATE: Fatal Pursuit Crash Bound for Grand Jury

The case of Garieon Simmons was bound to the Rutherford County Grand Jury this week. He is the man accused of taking a vehicle from the Coffee County Funeral Chapel and leading law enforcement on a high speed chase into Rutherford County.

Simmons is charged with driving into a vehicle and killing a young Rutherford County woman. Rutherford County deputies testified that they had to jump out of the way when they were trying to place speed sticks across the roadway while trying to stop him. Dash cam videos show that he was weaving in and out of traffic while trying to allude authorities. He is also accused of reaching speeds of up to 90 mph.

The young Rutherford County woman who was killed in the incident was Jessica Campos. Her family has since filed a $10 million lawsuit against Rutherford and Coffee County Sheriff's Departments.

He also faces charges in Coffee County where the vehicle was stolen.
