(MURFREESBORO) Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead, and another one injured. A car fleeing the shooting scene was later involved in a four-vehicle crash.

Shortly before noon on Labor Day morning, police responded to a shots fired call in the 4800 block of Laura Jeanne Boulevard.

The first on-the-scene discovered a deceased male in the parking lot of the location.

While in route to the scene, a Rutherford County Medical Emergency Services ambulance was flagged down by occupants of a vehicle on Florence Road near Manson Pike. One of the passengers was suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics began treating that man, who was later taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The driver and other passengers were apprehended.

Police spokesperson Larry Flowers said that MPD issued a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for the suspect's vehicle which was intercepted by a Trooper with Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) and Rutherford County Sheriff's Office deputy.

Minutes later, that vehicle caused a 4-car crash at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Thompson Lane. The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry LE, and a passenger were apprehended.

The homicide and shooting are being investigated by members of the Criminal Investigations Division. THP is investigating the crash.
