UPDATE: Monday suicide on I-24 tied to a homicide

A 25 year old man was shot and killed in Smyrna at 107 Fairwood Court. Smyrna Police responded to the address on Monday (2/27/17) afternoon at 1:30.

Investigators say the victim's name is Jesse Edward Heslep. Reports indicate the mans death is tied to the woman who committed suicide by jumping off the Waldron Road / Interstate 24 overpass on Monday. 55 Year old Lisa Heslep is the mother of the deceased man and she is also the suspect in her sons murder.

Smyrna Police Sgt. Bobby Gibson said in an email, "The woman involved in the suicide, Lisa Heslep (55), is the mother of our homicide victim and our investigation leads us to believe she is the suspect in our homicide."


The investigation is currently underway, according to Smyrna Police Sgt. Bobby Gibson.
