More information has been released about the man who was accused of robbery and later ran from police onto I-24 where he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle last month.

Reports indicate 25 year old Jermaine Wade was suspected of robbing a victim at gunpoint at a local apartment complex on the evening of December 22nd. Officers later located Wade at Motel 6 in Murfreesboro during the early morning hours of December 23rd.

When police approached Wade, he reportedly took off on foot running from Motel 6 and through the Cracker Barrel parking lot on Chaffin Place. The suspect then jumped a fence while heading towards I-24. During the pursuit police say they were yelling for Wade to stop, however he continued to flee. Police then witnessed Wade run onto Interstate 24 where he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.

When officers went back to Motel 6 they met with 24 year old Cedric Dawson and 23 year old Kaylen Mangrum. In their motel room police found car keys stolen from the victim the previous evening. Dawson evidently told police that Wade was the one who robbed the victim, after learning of Wade's death. But, Dawson was found to be in possession of a debit card that directly tied him to the previous robbery.

As for who actually robbed the victim, all three subjects were tied to the crime, according to a police report and police investigation.

Both Mr. Dawson and Ms. Mangrum were charged with aggravated robbery and theft. Dawson was also charged with criminal impersonation after he reportedly lied to police about his identity. Dawson was also served a sealed indictment.
