UPDATE: Murfreesboro Police Release the Name of the Victim and Suspect in Tuesday Murder

MPD Detective James Abbott arrested 22-year old Anthony P. Smith (8867 Short Creek Rd. Christiana; 9-3-91) on a charge of First Degree Murder. He is suspected of killing 23-year old Christopher Turley (8-10-90; 810 E. Clark Blvd. Murfreesboro) on Tuesday morning in Murfreesboro. Turley was shot at Stonewood Apartments on East Clark Boulevard. His body was found in the parking lot of the complex.

Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department told WGNS they are still seeking more information from the public in regards to this case…


Suspect Anthony Smith is being held on $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 24, 2014. Reports indicate the shooting may be drug related.

Previously sent to WGNS From Murfreesboro Police Sgt. Kyle Evans: 

The Murfreesboro Police Department is investigating a homicide at 810 E. Clark Blvd. officers responded around 5:00a.m. this morning to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered that a male subject had been shot. This victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators are working to confirm the identity of this person and notify family.

A possible witness received minor injuries during the incident and was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital for treatment. Other potential witnesses are currently being interviewed both at the scene and at the Police Department.
