UPDATE: Nashville Police continue to search for driver of SUV involved in motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a LaVergne man

The motorcyclist killed in a Tuesday (5/31/16) evening hit and run accident on I-24 near Bell Road after he struck a guardrail while traveling at a high rate of speed is identified as Jacob Steelman, 21, of LaVergne, Tennessee.

According to witnesses, Steelman appeared to be racing an SUV when he lost control of his 2016 Honda. He died at the scene. The driver of the SUV stopped, got out of the vehicle, and searched through Steelman's pockets before driving off. Officers are working to identify this man/driver. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene.
