UPDATE: The pedestrian hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night, March 19, in the 2400 Block of S. Church Street (Hwy 231) has been identified as Julio A. Martinez, 58, of Orlando, FL.
The preliminary investigation revealed Martinez had just left Pizza Hut and was attempting to cross the multi-lane street in front of the Pilot Truck Stop when he was struck by a vehicle.
Martinez was treated on the scene by personnel with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS). He was transported by RCEMS to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.T.) is investigating.

On Tuesday night, at approximately 8:39 p.m., Murfreesboro Police Officers were dispatched to South Church Street (Hwy 231) to a report of a serious injury crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was transported by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
