UPDATE on the stabbing at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro on 8/11/18

WGNS now has more details into an August 11, 2018 stabbing at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro. After the police reports were released, it was confirmed that the victim was stabbed multiple times in the face.

Witnesses told police that 35 Year old Joshua James Kowalski continued stabbing 61 year old Martin Kobe after he lost consciousnesses. One bystander even tried to stop the attack, however Kowalski allegedly threatened that bystander with the knife used in the stabbing.

Police were able to collect video and multiple statements from parents who had children at the park when the incident occurred. They were also able to apprehend Kowalski on site as he was still in the area of the Kids Castle playground.

During questioning, the official arrest report shows that the homeless suspect implicated himself in the attack. He was charged with aggravated assault and placed in the local jail under a $50,000 bond. A court date has been earmarked as October 17, 2018.

As for the victim, he is still at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
