UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed in Nashville Identified as 72-Year Old Rutherford County Resident

A man from LaVergne was hit by a car and killed in Nashville on Wednesday night. WGNS was able to confirm the identity of the victim Friday evening.

The pedestrian fatally injured in the 2900 block of Murfreesboro Pike shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday is identified as Fayez Rizkalla, 72, of LaVergne.

The preliminary investigation from the Metro / Nashville Police Department shows that Rizkalla was in the northbound lanes of Murfreesboro Pike when he was struck by a 2009 Ford Focus being driven by Lora Alexander, 51, of Nashville.  Alexander said she did not see Rizkalla in the roadway.
          
No charges were placed against Alexander.  There was no indication of alcohol or drug involvement.
