(MURFREESBORO) Around 7:30 Saturday (8/11/2018) evening, there was a stabbing in a parking lot near Kid's Castle in the Old Fort Park. WGNS has learned that the victim was first taken to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, but later flown by LifeFlight to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center.

Officials say that a 61-year male suffered multiple stabbing wounds to his head, near the left eye. He remains in critical condition at Vanderbilt.

An arrest has been made in the case, but at this time names of those involved have not been released.

NewsRadio WGNS has been hearing from several local residents about this knifing. All are concerned with what they describe as "an increse in violent crimes over the past few months". NewsRadio WGNS will be doing an analysis of violent crime related stories reported over-the-air in the past year.
