UPDATE: Student Quarters Apartments Murder Suspect in Court

The 20-year old man accused of shooting and killing another man at Student Quarters Apartments appears in court.

Lammorris Jones had his preliminary hearing Wednesday, as Jessie Buford's family looked on. They wiped away tears as they listened to how the 23-year old was gunned down.

District Attorney General Jennings Jones says Buford was shot to death on May 6th...

Detective Abbott testified Jones and Buford had a "falling out." The two had previously been friends and even roommates, at one point. Jones was arrested two days after the murder in Jackson, Tennessee.

According to testimony, he took the murder weapon to his cousin's home in Mississippi.

Judge Barry Tidwell heard enough evidence to send the case to the Rutherford County Grand Jury.

We have new information on the arrest of 20-year old, accused of a murder last week at Student Quarters Apartments.

Lammoris Ontrel Jones was arrested Saturday evening by Murfreesboro Police. Sgt. Kyle Evans says a warrant was taken out for Jones' arrest and detectives began an extensive search to locate him in West Tennessee and Mississippi.

The victim, 23-year old Jessie Buford, died on the way to the hospital last Thursday after suffering several gun shot wounds to the chest.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol located Jones traveling west of Jackson, Tennessee, where a vehicle stop was conducted and Jones was taken into custody.

Jones was transported to the Madison County Jail, where he was subsequently booked on the First Degree Murder warrant and interviewed by MPD Detectives.

Lammoris Ontrel Jones was arrested Saturday evening by Murfreesboro Police and have charged him with first degree homicide.

MPD detectives searched apartment 106 along with talking with several witnesses in identifying Jones as a suspect.

Sgt. Kyle Evans told NewsRadio WGNS over 200 arrests have been made in the Greenland Drive area near the apartment complex in the last several weeks. One of those included attempted murder charges after a person at Student Quarters Apartments was shot in the forearm.

Those stepped up efforts continue, with an increase in officers, in both marked and unmarked vehicles and on foot patrol.
