UPDATE: Suspect in counterfeit money case identified

The Smyrna Police Department has identified the suspect in a counterfeit money incident thanks to the public’s help.  On January 11th  the suspect in question entered the GNC store located at 801 Industrial Blvd in Smyrna and allegedly made an eight dollar purchase that he paid for with a counterfeit $50.00 bill. He left the store and returned within a couple of minutes and got change for another $50.00 bill which was also counterfeit.

Smyrna Police Chief Kevin Arnold told WGNS the same male also went into the Game Stop and Dress Barn in the same shopping center and attempted to get change but, was unsuccessful at those locations.

The suspect in the photo was caught by police on Tuesday and questioned. Charges are pending.
