More than one thousand walkers came together on a picture-perfect day Saturday morning for the 2013 Rutherford Heart Walk, at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. The annual event by the American Heart Association raises funds to support research and education to fight the No. 1 and No. 4 killers of Americans, heart disease and stroke.
The American Heart Association funds research that has led to CPR, stents, pacemakers, and many of the innovations used in cardiovascular care today, as well as programs improving health in schools, companies and communities across the nation.
The Rutherford Heart Walk so far has raised more than $85,000. For those who couldn’t make it to the Walk but still want to help, donations are still being accepted at www.rutherfordheartwalk.org.
