UPDATE: Wednesday Accident on I-24 Caused by Blown Tire

WGNS has more information on a serious auto crash that occurred Wednesday morning on I-24 in Rutherford County near the Beechgrove Exit.

65 Year old Junus Morse of Georgia was driving west on Interstate 24 when a tire blew on the Ford Ranger that he was driving. After the tire blew, Morse apparently collided with a Kenworth semi-truck being driven by 60 year old John Meyer of Alabama.

Morse, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Ranger after the small pickup hit a guardrail and overturned.

Life Flight helicopter was called to the scene to fly Morse to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Morse was listed as "Critical" when flown away from the scene by way of the medical helicopter. The driver of the Kenworth semi-truck was not seriously injured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that there were no signs of alcohol or drug use at the scene of the crash on Wednesday.
