UPDATE: Weekend Crash In La Vergne

A 36-year old La Vergne woman has passed away from injuries from a crash. Tela Williams died Monday after the 9pm Saturday crash. It happened near the intersection of Stones River Road and Lake Forest Drive.

A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicates Tela Williams' Ford Fusion was traveling south on Stones River Road and when nogotiating a curve, crossed the double yellow line, hitting Chevy Silverado pickup driven by 30-year old Somer Williams.

La Vergne spokesperson Rachel Heggen says Tela Williams was taken to Vanderbilt Trauma Center Saturday and late Monday, we learned she died from her injuries. She underwent surgery on Saturday night.

Somer Williams and a seven-year old child in the pickup truck were taken to StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna with non-life threatening injuries.

The T-H-P also reports Tela Williams had been drinking and was not wearing a seat belt. They did say a seat belt could have made a difference in this crash.

A weekend crash in La Vergne turns fatal.

Shortly after 9:00 o'clock Saturday evening (8/13/2016), La Vergne Police responded to a serious crash between a four-door car and a pickup truck. The intersection of Stones River Road at Lake Forest Drive was closed to traffic while investigators collected evidence.

La Vergne spokesperson Rachel Heggen says the woman was taken to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center and late Monday, we learned she died from her injuries. She underwent surgery on Saturday night.

Those in the truck were taken to StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna with non-life threatening injuries.

Heggen says alcohol was involved in the accident and La Vergne Police continue to investigate the accident.
