Family and friends will be allowed to visit inmates between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center at 940 New Salem Highway.

People who wish to visit this weekend must pre-register in person Thursday (9/7/17) until 4 p.m. or from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday (9/8/17) at the Visitation Lobby. People cannot register by telephone. Background checks will be conducted then.

Registration will be on first-come, first-served basis. About 100 slots are available.

This visitation schedule is being added because the video visitation vendor's server was attacked by ransomware, disabling the video visitation.

Detention Capt. Chris Fly said the staff understands this is an inconvenience to the families and friends.

"We understand the importance of inmates maintaining ties to their families and friends within the community," Fly said. "Regular visitation and contact reminds inmates there is more to life than incarceration. It helps them stay focused on the future when they will join their loved ones in society.

Once approved, each inmate may have two adult visitors or one adult and two children.

One the day of visitation, all visitors must report 15 minutes before the scheduled visitation for orientation and personal searches.

While video visitation is out-of-service, inmates will have one hour of free telephone calls.
