Read To Succeed will be hosting a volunteer tutor training on July 11th and 18th from 6-8 pm at the Smyrna Public Library. Dinner will be provided.

Read To Succeed is updating the program to make it easier for YOU to volunteer. Now you will only have to attend 4 hours of in-person training. You will choose an area of interest to you to focus on: early reading, advanced reading, basic or advanced math, English as a Second Language, or computer skills. Then you will go online and watch a few brief videos in your area of focus to complete the training.

Tutoring is an extremely rewarding volunteer opportunity. Currently our tutors are assisting adults in earning a GED, going to college, reading to their children, improving job skills, and so much more. Helping someone through this process can oftentimes be more rewarding for the tutor than for the learner. Many tutors also enjoy sharing their love of reading (or MATH!) with their students.

Tutors are carefully paired with their learner based on personality, skills, and interests. But we are in need of more volunteers. Each tutor must complete the training course (both in-person and on-line) before being paired with a learner. Tutoring can be done at your convenience. Pairs meet in the community at a time and place that works for them.
