Rutherford County voted with the state's majority in approving the four state Constitutional amendments on the ballot.

Amendment 1, the most controversial of the four, opens the way for the state legislature to enact new restrictions on abortion. The state Supreme Court struck down similar regulations 14-years ago.

Amendment 2 adds a layer of confirmation from the General Assembly for state appointed judges. The measure had much support in the General Assembly and from the judiciary. Voters will still have a say in retention.

Amendment 3 was also passed, prohibiting lawmakers from imposing a state income tax and Amendment 4 allows charitable gaming fundraisers for veterans' groups.
