There are only a few weeks remaining to see WEDDING DRESSES THROUGH THE DECADES in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion, 900 N. Maney Avenue.

This is the seventh year that Oaklands Mansion has presented this romantic look at those who are a part of this community.

Oaklands' Educational Director Mary Beth Nevills said, "Stories of our community will come to life through wedding gowns on display. These vintage gowns from the past 100+ years are on display along with brides' photos and stories from their wedding day. While here, enjoy over fifty bride dolls from different decades in many different sizes on display. These bride dolls and doll wedding dresses make a wonderful addition to the exhibit."

The event is open every day now through March 4, 2018. Monday through Saturday hours are 10:00AM to 4:00PM, and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00PM.

Regular admission to WEDDING DRESSES THROUGH THE DECADES is $10. In addition, groups of ten or more can purchase tickets for $7. For detail, e-mail Mary Beth at mb@oaklandsmansion.org or phone 615-893-0022.

SPECIAL: Friday March 2nd, 4-8PM

Due to conflicts, many are unable to visit Oaklands Mansion during the daytime hours. On Friday evening, March 2, 2018, the exhibit will be open from 4:00 to 8:00PM. There will be two special evenings in which WEDDINGS DRESSES THROUGH THE DECADES will be open until 8:00 in the evening.

The cost is $20 and includes the exhibit. Tickets can be pre-purchased in the museum gift shop or by calling Oaklands at 615-893-0022. Seating is limited and reservations are requested.

"PURPLE PASSION" 6PM this Tuesday

In addition, a special activity is planned for 6:00 o'clock this coming Tuesday evening (2/20/2018). "Purple Passion" will be hosted by Oaklands Mansion and the MTSU Student Chapter ASID/IIDA from the Human Sciences Department.

There will be a reception, 5:00PM in the mansion followed by the presentation in the parlor. The presentation, "Purple Passion," will be about the history and use of the color purple in interiors. The speaker will be Nicole Ruffing from Sherwin-Williams. After the presentation, enjoy the elegant gowns included in this year's "Wedding Dresses Through the Decades" exhibit.

Nicole Ruffing is currently the Atlanta area Designer Account Executive where she develops relationships with Residential Architects and Designers by providing product and color specification support. Sherwin-Williams is North America's largest paint and coatings manufacturer. Nicole has spent his career acquiring and sharing her knowledge of new paint technologies and applications.
