Two weekend fires are being investigated by the local fire marshal. Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue responded to a fire around 5:20 Satruday morning on St. Ives Drive, near the clubhouse in the Berkshire subdivision. The plastic lining around the basketball court was on fire. The initial report indicates arson is suspected.

Another fire on Almar Knot Drive occurred around 1:30 Saturday afternoon. When MFRD arrived, smoke was seen coming from a second story window. They found a small fire in an upstairs bedroom. The home received moderate damage from the small fire and while there is an investigation, it was initially reported as an accidential fire. There were no injuries in either incident.
