A 40-year old Wellington Place man has been arrested after attempting to meet a 12-year old girl.

Christopher Barnes is on the sex offender registry and according to Murfreesboro Police Detective Sgt. Wayne Lawson was sending messages on Instagram to a girl he knew was only 12.

The girl's parents were interviewed by police and they learned the messages were sexual in nature, describing acts he wanted to do. The minor victim also reported receiving obscene photos of Barnes.

During the interview with Detective Lawson, Barnes allegedly admitted to sending the messages and to contacting other girls in the same way - sending obscene photos and messages. The report stated Barnes obtained information from various middle and high school Instagram accounts on other girls.

In December of 2016, NewsRadio WGNS reported Barnes faced multiple charges of sexual acts involving a child.
