On Thursday, State Representative Joe Carr (R-Lascassas) sent a letter to Commissioner Bill Gibbons of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security and copied Governor Bill Haslam requesting information about the possible influx of illegal immigrants into Tennessee.

It has been widely reported that the Federal Government has been flying and bussing illegal immigrants, who have recently illegally crossed our border, to other states for the purpose processing.  Representative Carr’s letter to Commissioner Gibbons requests information on whether the Federal Government has recently made any inquiries, arrangements or notifications to the state of Tennessee about the possible relocation of any illegal immigrants.

“Tennessee has had its own issues with illegal immigrants and now my constituents and I are concerned that the Federal Government will start sending these particular illegal immigrants to Tennessee to be released for the purpose of resettlement,” stated Representative Joe Carr.  “Throughout my time in the General Assembly I have fought against illegal immigrants and I do not want to see the Federal Government reverse the great progress that Tennessee has made.  We must continue our fight against illegal immigration in Tennessee and not allow the Federal Government to force more illegal immigrants on us.”
