Woman accidentally SHOT in the hand

A Murfreesboro woman who claims she was attempting to shoot a dog accidentally shot herself. The accidental shooting was reported on Wednesday morning.

Freda Harwell advised she was trying to shoot a .22 handgun at a dog that was in her backyard chasing her cat. Police met with the victim at St. Thomas Rutherford, but the gun was not with her. 55-Year old Harwell told police she left the gun in her backyard after the mishap, so police headed to her address on A. West Street.

Upon searching for the gun, it could not be located. Officers also searched for a shell casing from the fired weapon, but again turned up empty handed.


No charges have been filed.
