A woman who was waiting for her children to board a school bus was robbed at gunpoint on Monday morning. Due to the time of morning it was still dark outside, which may have aided the robber in that witnesses were unable to see him flee.

The crime unfolded at Brookwood Terrace Apartments on South Rutherford Blvd in Murfreesboro.

According to the victim, she watched her children board the school bus and after doing so, a black male in a camouflage jacket approached her demanding her purse. The woman told the subject "No" and he then pulled out a handgun pointing it at her face. She then gave the unknown man her valuables and the subject took off on foot running towards University Ridge Apartments.

Police brought in a K-9 to search the area for the culprit, but turned up empty handed. The case is now in the hands of detectives.
