Yes on 1 responded to the release of an ad they call "misleading". The following may be attributed to Dr. C. Brent Boles, a Murfreesboro obstetrician/gynecologist who is supporting passage of Amendment 1.

"As a physician and an advocate for Amendment 1, the claims of those who oppose even the most basic limitation on the practice of abortion are unfounded and untrue.

Even before abortion was made legal in Tennessee, there was always an exception to allow abortions to protect the life of a mother. Always was, always has been, always will be.

As opponents of Amendment 1 try to make their case, they falsely claim an ability by Tennessee to ban abortion even in the most tragic of circumstances. In fact, Roe v Wade remains the law of the land and no state can ban or significantly limit the practice of abortion.

These ads reveal nothing more than a slick attempt to confuse voters about the facts regarding Amendment 1. Yes on 1 is confident that Tennesseans will see through the scare tactics of Big Abortion and their Hollywood supporters."
