SMYRNA, Tenn. (WGNS) - Smyrna High School is back to normal operations after police investigated and cleared an anonymous bomb threat made against the campus Wednesday (August 26th).
School officials placed the campus under a precautionary lockdown immediately following the morning threat, following standard safety procedures. Rutherford County Schools Chief Communications Officer James Evans notified parents that all students remained safe throughout the incident while law enforcement officers and multiple responding agencies secured the building. During the investigation, school officials advised waiting parents to gather at Lifepoint Church rather than approaching the school building.
Following a thorough search of the campus, law enforcement cleared the facility and determined the bomb threat was completely unfounded. Rutherford County Schools confirmed the campus is safe and that classes will proceed without an early school dismissal.
Parents who choose to check their children out of school early must access the campus using McWilliams Drive, as traffic is not being permitted through Bulldog Circle.
