MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - An e-bike rider suffered a broken leg after a car struck him along Thompson Lane early Tuesday (September 1st).
The crash happened around 6:27 a.m. as the cyclist rode in the designated bike lane on Thompson Lane. Officers report the driver attempted to turn left into the Circle K gas station and collided directly with the rider.
Emergency personnel from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS) provided initial medical care to the cyclist at the scene. Paramedics then transported the rider to the hospital for further treatment of his injuries.
Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) officers cited the driver involved for failure to yield, driving on a suspended license, and having no proof of insurance.
The crash remains under investigation by MPD. Officers remind all Rutherford County drivers to always yield to cyclists and pedestrians to keep local roads safe.
