2020 Murder at a Murfreesboro Intersection to be Presented to a Grand Jury

On October 21, 2020, a 22-year-old was shot and killed at the intersection of North Tennessee Blvd. and Stonewall Court. There, police found Blake Bolton who had been shot twice.

Murfreesboro Police Detective Albert Miles is the lead investigator and developed a suspect who has since been apprehended. 21-Year-old Cody Gilliam was charged with the first-degree murder of Bolton. Gilliam, who lives in Shelbyville, TN, was arrested on February 26th of this year (2021).

A preliminary hearing was held in General Sessions Court this past March. Gilliam was represented by public defender JD Driver at the hearing where it was learned that the case would be presented to a Rutherford County Grand Jury for further action.

The suspect remains behind bars at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. under a $200,000 bond.
