Focus On Rutherford County with County Mayor Bill Ketron and Deputy to the Mayor Steve Sandlin:
- The former County Maintence Building has been rented to area veteran's groups for $1/year, and will be used as a center to help the 21,000+ veterans in this county (PTSD counseling, assistance in getting back into society, etc. This is a 9,000 square foot complex on Rice Street.
- The county debated on building an office facility on Rutherford County land in front of the Linebaugh Library (where gazebo is located). Instead, the County Commission voted to do a revitalization of the former Goldstein's building (south side of the Murfreesboro square).
- Update on the forensic's complex--Mayor Ketron began the conversation on including Vanderbilt Hospital along with MTSU in the project.
- Traffic continues to be a concern and the discussion included Amtrack, commuter rail line down the center of I-24, and other ideas.
