Tuesday (6/27/2017) morning's six-vehicle crash at the intersection of Fortress and John R. Rice Boulevards (Manson Pike) here in Murfreesboro is believed to have started at a Franklin, Tennessee church.

The pastor at Spring Meadow Baptist Church on Columbia Pike in Franklin saw the suspects when he arrived at church around 6:30 Tuesday morning. He told sheriff's deputies that they were using the truck to ram into the church's tool shed, but when the preacher arrived--the two white males fled in what turned out to be a stolen Penske box truck.

A Williamson County Sheriff's deputy spotted the large yellow truck on Mark Hatcher Memorial Parkway in Franklin, but the driver would not pull over. The deputy followed the truck through the morning-drive congestion of Franklin's car dealers and shopping centers on Highway 96 , then onto I-65 and then to I-840 into Rutherford County where the pursuit was terminated because of safety concerns.

However, Williamson County continued to follow the yellow box truck at a safe distance. At the county-line Rutherford County deputies joined-in.

From 840, the big yellow truck turned onto I-24, traveling two-miles and exiting onto the Medical Center Parkway, which becomes Fortress Boulevard. At the Manson Pike-John R. Rice intersection at Fortress, the Penske rental truck slammed into the rush hour congestion, causing a total of six crashes--including a flipped pickup.

The passenger compartment of the Penske box truck received heavy damage as it stopped--perpendicular to the curb on Medical Center Parkway. The two males were quickly apprehended by officers from the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office along with deputies from Williamson County.

46-year old Christopher Bohrer and 37-year old Derrick White were taken to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
