Gloria McCloy
Gloria Jean McCloy, 86, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Gloria lived a rich, colorful, and deeply fulfilling life centered on her faith, her family, and the many cherished friendships she cultivated throughout the years. She was a truly remarkable woman whose warmth, kindness, compassion, and joyful spirit brought light into the lives of everyone she met. Her genuine love for people made each person feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. She will be profoundly missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon E. Gustin and Micky Bowers, and her sisters, Alda Joy Matteson, Mickie MacCabee, and Vickie Longton, and survived by her brother, Gordon “Gordy” Gustin.
She was a native of Lima, Ohio, and was the mother of three children, who survive her: Robert Cash McCloy, Kelly Jean Braun, and Amy Sue Sain. She was also grandmother to seven grandchildren: Anderson Braun, Cameron Braun, Avery “AJ” Braun, Riley Braun, Delaney Sain Coleman, Kendall Sain, and Addison Sain.

Gloria was a graduate of The Ohio State University–Lima Branch, where she earned her Master's Degree in Education in the mid-1970s. She spent 29 years teaching elementary school in the Lima City Schools before retiring at 62. Gloria was passionate about lifelong learning and enjoyed being involved in Toastmasters and the Audubon Society.

Following retirement, Gloria moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to be closer to her daughter Amy's family, becoming a devoted presence in their lives.

Gloria’s loving, accepting nature allowed her to form deep and lasting friendships wherever she lived. In Murfreesboro, she quickly became a treasured member of the North Boulevard Church of Christ family. She faithfully participated in Ladies’ Bible Studies and Small Groups and joyfully served as both a greeter and a teacher in the children’s ministry. Her gentle spirit, welcoming smile, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on her church family and the community she loved.

Above all else, Gloria’s life was defined by her unwavering faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of her Lord and Savior. She lived each day with the assurance that her salvation rested completely in His grace and His finished work on the cross. That steadfast faith gave her peace throughout her life and joyful confidence as she entered eternity.

While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the certainty that Gloria is now in the presence of her Savior, experiencing the fullness of eternal life in Heaven she so faithfully anticipated. Her legacy of faith, love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life honoring Gloria will be held on Sunday, July 19, at 2:00 p.m. at North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Family and friends are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate Gloria’s life, her enduring faith, and her eternal home with Jesus Christ. Though we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the promise of the resurrection and look forward with hope to seeing her again soon.
