The official ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies for the new Rutherford County Judical Center took place at 4:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

County Mayor Ernest Burgess served as the emcee. He shared when the idea for the new facility first had serious discussions . . .

He told how professional file and document movers had already bar coded the materials to be brought from the former facility about two-blocks away to the new structure.

And when will the massive 203,000 square foot, 6-story structure be open for court . . .

Since Rutherford County is the tenth fastest growing community in the US, did you leave "room to grow" . . .

The big question--was the new Judicial Center built within its approved budget . . .

When you enter the massive lobby, the first thing that catches your attention is a 4-story tall mural of the courthouse cupola. As you get closer, you can see that the entire wall is made of small photos of leaders in this community, and when you stand back--you see the cupola instead of individuals.

It was estimated that over 600 persons attended the public grand opening of the Rutherford County Judicial Center on West Lyle at North Maple Streets.

County Mayor Burgess noted that the move and final decorations will begin immediately.
