Murfreesboro continues its bicentennial celebration, and April's focus is "faith". First Presbyterian members created fashions of the city's past two centuries and presented them at 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning (4-14-2012) in the church's Common Room on the corner of Collect and Church Streets.  (L-R photo ID below: Jane Blakey, Lee Ann Walker and Earleen Foss)

Historical Narration

In addition to seeing what women wore to church over the period, (L-R photos below) Wanda Barr, Libby McKay and Linda Stevens gave information on what was happening at the time in Murfreesboro as well as learning about national trends.

The church's roots go back to the first settlers who worshipped in a log school house near Murfree Spring and the current location of the Discovery Center. As Captain William Lytle donated land for the small village of Murfreesborough, he also gave land for the Presbyterian Church.
