I-24 was shut down for a time while authorities cleared the scene. It happened around 9:30am at mile marker 72, which is just a couple of miles past I-840.

At least two vehicles were involved and one which flipped. There were several injuries.

The westbound lanes were shut down until for about an hour until the roadway was cleared just after 10:30am.
