Cripple Creek Cloggers begin a new season of classes for new dancers at 7:00 o'clock Tuesday night, Sept. 11th.  The group meets at 220 E. Vine Street, across from the library.

 

The troupe just returned from successful touring in the countries of Latvia and LIthuania, where they represented the U.S. in international folkloric festivals. They are planning touring for 2013 in Austria and perhaps Slovakia and Italy.

 

The Cripple Creek Cloggers will be performing at 4:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, September 17th at the Buchanan Old Log House on Elm HIll Pike in Nashville.

 

Then at 6:30 Saturday evening October 6th they will be at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church here in Murfreesboro.

 

Tuesday morning, October 23rd, they perform at 10:00 o'clock at Nashville's Centennial Park Bandshell for the "Celebration of Cultures". At 7:00 that same evening, they head to the Tennessee Prison for Women. At 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, October 27th, the cloggers are at Cannonsburgh's Harvest Festival Days on Front Street here in Murfreesboro.  

 

Cripple Creek Cloggers also host International Folkfest (www.mboro-international-folkfest.org) each June. During June 9-16, 2013, festival events are scheduled for Rutherford, Cannon, and Williamson counties. Soon, foreign groups who will participate will be confirmed by the Planning Council, which is composed of volunteers from the dance group and from among former dancers and other interested persons in the Middle Tennessee area.

 

The main goal of Cripple Creek Cloggers is to preserve and teach Appalachian -style square dancing with a clogging step, the traditional dancing of the pioneer settlers in Tennessee. They perform wearing traditional costumes of the early 1800s and accompanied by live music of the period.
