Driving on a Suspended License and Alleged Dope in the Car

A North Spring Street man told police he has not had a drivers license in the past 11-years, which according to the report, would mean that he last had his license when he was 19-years of age. Today, Clifford Ghee Davis is 30. The absence of the license seems to be the least of his worries at this point.

When police approached the Jeep that Davis was said to be driving, the arresting officer noted a strong smell of marijuana. Davis handed the officer a blunt after the officer told him the smell of marijuana was in the air. Police searched the Jeep and an officer wrote in an arrest report, “I made a probable cause search of the motor vehicle and discovered three plastic bags of marijuana.” The bags in question added up to about 3-ounces of dope, which doesn’t sound like much, but under Tennessee law is a felony amount of weed.

The report went on to state, “Mr. Davis advised that he purchased the marijuana for a friend and that he was taking it to his house.” For the good deed of delivering the grass, Davis evidently told police he was given an “allotted amount as payment.”

The reported possession of dope and the cooperation of Davis with the Murfreesboro Police Department landed him in jail on a felony charge of a schedule six drug with the intent to deliver. He was also charged for driving on a suspended license.
