Secretary of State Tre Harget said, “Early voting allows voters to pick a convenient time to cast their ballots. Because of the length of the August ballot, and the time to read the ballot during the voting process, lines on Election Day are expected to be long. Voting early this election just makes sense.”

Early voting at the Rutherford County Election Commission office, south side of the Murfreesboro square is M-F 7AM-7PM.

Other EARLY VOTING locations are open M-F 10AM-6PM.
Election Commission Annex (Vine Street, just off Maney Ave.)
   Blackman Elementary School
   Tennessee Rehabilitation Center (Smyrna, TN)
   La Vergne Civic Auditorium

Saturday EARLY VOTING times (same at all locations) is 8AM-Noon.

In explanation, this election period is when you select the candidate who actually wins the county positions. However, in state and federal races this is the PRIMARY ELECTION. In this particular case, you can only vote "Republican" to select a candidate for that political party. The Democratic party chose to select a single candidate for each position through the "caucus" method.

For those who do not take advantage of the July 18-August 2, 2014 EARLY VOTING opportunities, the election day is set for Thursday, August 7, 2014. Each precinct is open 7AM-7PM on that day. And then, WGNS broadcasts the results "live" from the Election Commission starting at 7:15PM that evening.

If you have questions, phone the Rutherford County Election Commission at 615-898-7743.
