Get ready for a packed early voting period (Oct. 19-Nov. 3; election day is Nov. 8). There is much interest in this year's presidential election, in fact Rutherford County Election Administrator Alan Farley told News Radio WGNS . . .

Feedback from voters over the years, shows they like the early voting concept. Farley noted that the thing the public likes the most is having the freedom of several days in which to cast your ballot and not being restricted to one location.

He said Rutherford County will put the voter's wishes into practice starting in May, 2018 . . .

When asked his opinion on expanding to "mail ballots" that are used in some other states, Farley indicated that there is no way to know for certain that the vote was actually made by the person listed. He said, "There's more accountability in having the voter physically come into regulated location and actually casting the ballot before witnesses from a cross-section of political groups."

As always, NewsRadio WGNS will be at the Rutherford County Election Commission on Tuesday night, November 8th to give you the results "live" as county officials tabulate the votes. In addition, the radio station will include the national story through CBS reporters and statewide with the Tennessee Radio Network.
