The first baby of the new year in Murfreesboro was Emma Marie Johnson. The newborn weighed in on Sunday at 6 pounds and 14 ounces. Emma is the first child of Diaondra Simpson and Andrew Johnson of Murfreesboro and was born at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.

The hospital presented the family with a special gift after the baby was born, because it was the first baby of the new year. The mom and the newborn will be released from the hospital on Tuesday morning.
