Selling something that is not yours is a bad idea.

A man who spotted someone messing with his car in a field near Hillwood Boulevard told police that he jumped a fence to get to it. When he confronted the man who was in the field next to the car, the subject told him it was his car. That of course made the matter a little confusing and police were quickly called.

As it turns out, there were two victims in the case that was labeled as a fraud. Evidently the victim who originally owned the car told a mechanic to sell it for him and he could have a commission. However, it would appear that the mechanic not only sold the Mustang, but also financed it for the person he sold it too and never paid the rightful owner a single penny.

The victim who legally owned the car realized the Mustang was missing when he went to the mechanic to call off the deal and retrieve his car. However, the car was missing. That was when he went looking for it and found the car in question. He then confronted the man who bought it, who was also a victim in the case.

The man who bought the car from the mechanic gave the vehicle back to the rightful owner. But, he already gave the mechanic $3,000 towards the $4,700 asking price.

At this point, no arrests have been made and the case is in the hands of Murfreesboro Detectives.
